Each of us was born during a particular lunation phase, which reflects personal characteristics. Our lunar phase is determined by the angle of separation between the Sun and the Moon at the time of our birth.

The phase of the Moon shows us the relationship between consciousness (the Sun) and instinct (the Moon). As Dane Rudhyar says: the phases of the Moon represent the gradual increase in intellectual perception. In this way, the interaction between the Sun and the Moon shows evolutionary processes that allow us to learn more about our true nature, through periodic cycles.
Although in astrology we give a lot of importance to the New Moon and the Full Moon, our personal lunar calendar is synchronized with the phase of the Moon in which we were born. Our lunation phase suggests particular lessons that our soul has come to go through.
The progressed Moon can also give us information about the phase we are in at the present. The progressed Moon will change signs every two and a half years, more frequently than any other planet. As a result, about every two and a half years, our consciousness take on a different flavor, depending on the phase our Moon is progressing through.
Each cycle of our progressed Moon goes hand in hand with the Saturn return - about 28 1/2 years.
There are 8 lunar phases: New Moon, Crescent Moon, First Quarter, Gibbous Moon, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Last Quarter Moon and Balsamic Moon.
Depending on the phase we are in, we can know what the individual process we are going through is and in this way, understand our relationship with the present.
The importance of the phase of the Moon in which we were born lies in the fact that it allows us to understand what our subjective reality is and how it differs from that of those born in another phase. Because if we do not take it into account, we live something similar to the story of the Tower of Babel.
